I’ve spent the better part of an hour flipping between staring at the blinking cursor on my screen and writing random sentences, only to aggressively backspace them into oblivion.
Confession: I’m a “not very good at small talk” neurodivergent. Which means I often start off in the middle of a conversation, forgetting that the person I’m talking to likely doesn’t have all the context. So, let me backtrack a bit … Hello, I’m Melissa. I’m a former community journalist trying to re-ignite my love of creative writing and a long-held desire to have a blog reminiscent of the early 2000s when, before social media blew up, you’d head over to sites like Blogger and Live Journal to read posts from people eager to overshare. This is part of the latter. When I get around to it, I’ll start posting creative writing posts on the page I’ve created for that.
Anyhow, back to the part where I was telling you about the unreasonable amount of time I’ve spent typing words on the page, only to delete them. I’d originally written that I was writing “mad drivel”, and while I could give myself a pass, given that I have a mental health condition, I’m trying to remove ableist lexicon from my writing.
I’ve gotten myself stuck again, not quite knowing where to take this post. I thought I had a route planned out, a theme or topic of some sort, but clearly, I don’t.
Maybe I’ll try again next week.
Until then, take care 🙂
